Service & Troubleshooting FAQs

Keep your cover running smoothly

Troubleshooting help, maintenance guidance and service-plan details for automatic pool cover owners.

Request Service
Why won't my automatic pool cover open or close?
Common causes include loss of power, water or debris on the cover, dirty tracks, low pool-water level, an obstruction, a broken rope or cable, alignment problems or a motor/control issue. Stop operating the system if it strains, moves unevenly or makes an unusual noise. Repeatedly cycling the switch can increase damage.
What is included in Protected Pools' maintenance plans?
The Complete System Maintenance plan includes system maintenance, cover-box debris removal, lubrication of applicable fittings, clutch adjustment when present, hardware tightening and track-system flushing and inspection. The Extended plan adds fabric cleaning, longer labor coverage, priority response, discounts and selected wear-part benefits as described in the current plan terms.
Do you service covers installed by another company?
Protected Pools services Cover-Pools systems and can evaluate certain other automatic-cover systems case by case. Submit the manufacturer, model if known, photos of the mechanism and tracks, the property address and a description of the problem. Parts availability, territory and technician training determine whether service can be accepted.
Is emergency automatic pool-cover service available?
Protected Pools offers expedited 24- to 48-hour response options Monday through Friday when scheduling and location allow. Availability is not guaranteed, travel charges may apply and parts-dependent repairs may require a return visit. A non-working cover should never be treated as an active safety barrier until operation has been restored.
What information should I send when requesting service?
Provide the property address, cover brand, approximate age, photos or video of the problem, the current position of the cover and a description of any noise or movement. Note whether the motor runs, whether power is available and whether water or debris is present. This helps the technician prepare and identify likely parts.
